Hello!

I'm Rebekah Jackson and I set up The Bold Type in 2018, after 17 years supporting the development of childcare and out of school settings in both England and Wales.

I've been involved in the sector my whole career starting out running holiday playschemes and respite care weekends for families of disabled children. I've worked across all types of childcare setting as a Childcare Development Officer in Cheshire, providing business and practice advice, guidance and training.

I also worked as the strategic lead for childcare in a Welsh Local Authority supporting the development of the Childcare Offer for Wales amongst many other things!  ​

In between roles I've also spent some time working children's safeguarding and since starting this new journey I've worked with some incredible people on fascinating projects; every time learning something new. 

​

I'm a playworker at heart though! I stumbled across playwork early in my career and it just 'fitted' for me. As soon as I realised that it existed I was hooked... there was a name for what I felt was right in working with children! 

​

I went on to learn as much as I could and completed my MA in Play and Playwork at University of Gloucestershire. I think there's a bit of a playworker in everyone and love to try and bring that out in people! 

I'm now loving the experience of working with a wider range of people and settings across the UK. The consultancy projects are always new, bold and interesting and the people who I'm working with as a coach are just incredible.

Building relationships with integrity is what I'm all about and it's paying off for both me and my clients. I'm straight talking and work hard to give you insightful, bold solutions that really work.

I know the pressures faced by the childcare, early years and playwork sector and passionately believe that nurturing your people brings out the best in them and therefore gives the best for the children in their care.
